Reg Barber selected Zebra wood for it’s lustrous appearance. The barista tool has a heartwood that’s pale golden yellow, distinct from the very pale color of the sapwood and features narrow streaks of dark brown to black. It is farmed mostly in West Africa. After it is turned on a wood lathe it is hand sanded and polished for a beautiful finish. The process itself can take up to four days. On the surface pencil-thin tan lines interspersed with blackish brown stripes make the surface appear as if it has been stroked by the fine claws of a wild animal. It is farmed mostly in West Africa. Reg Barber's most popular coffee tamper. This barista tool is made from a dense rosewood from Africa with a deep red color accentuated by a dark grain. After it is turned on a wood lathe it is hand sanded and hand polished for a beautiful finish. The process itself can take up to four days. This particular tamper handle comes with an inlayed crown. Reg originally added the inlayed crown to prevent damage to your equipment from tapping the sides of the porta-filter.

Reg Barber chose the anodizing technique for it’s durability. This involves immersing the handles in a chemical bath and applying an electrical current to it, causing oxide to be produced from the resulting rust on the aluminum. This layer of oxide hardens the aluminum and makes it resistant to corrosion.
